RENOIR Rennie's stage adaptation of Sir Terry Pratchett's Discworld novel Witches Abroad has its world premiere in Maryborough this week.

It tells the story of three country witches and their fantastical journey.

"I'm enormously proud of the work the Maryborough Players have put into this, the cast and the crew," he said.

"I'm delighted it's being associated with Pub Fest."

The theme is magic and fantasy and the official colour is purple, in honour of the event's charity partner Alzheimer's Australia.

Sir Terry has Alzheimer's.

Mr Rennie said the production was funny and witty.

"The story takes a very different look at the fairytales you thought you knew," he said.
