THE festival that stops the Bruce Hwy did exactly that on the weekend as the sun beat down on a feast of fun at Childers.

Thousands flocked to the three-day Childers Festival, which kicked off on Friday night with the official opening of the Paragon Theatre attracting more than 100.

The annual festival scored top marks from visitors and vendors alike, with capacity crowds lured to the wine and agriculture haven.

More than 400 market, food and wine stalls lined each side of the highway, while five stages pumped non-stop music.

But it was the smorgasbord of international cuisine that pleased the most.

Favourite food vendors at this year's event included a stall run by My Kitchen Rules winners Dan and Steph where handmade pork and fennel sausages were dished out to long line of hungry festival-goers while local favourites Mammino Gourmet Ice Cream and Piping Hot Woodfired Pizzas fared well.
