HIS visit was short and low-key, but rugby league legend Petero Civoniceva was still a huge hit with fans.
Civoniceva, Australia's most capped forward, dropped in to Hervey Bay on Wednesday as a special guest of Hervey Bay State High School's sports awards.
Before he enjoyed the honour of presenting awards to the athletes, the former Origin star spent the day travelling around the community, visiting patients at the Hervey Bay Hospital before making a special appearance at the Cerebral Palsy League, where he posed for fan photos and signed merchandise.
Having retired from rugby league after 309 NRL games for Brisbane and Penrith, 33 games for Queensland, 45 tests for Australia and six for Fiji, the 38-year-old said it was great to be able to put a smile on fans' faces.
