BOB Katter's Australian Party has announced its first Fraser Coast candidate in Maryborough shop-keeper, Gordon Dale.

Mr Dale was interviewed by Bob Katter when he travelled to Maryborough recently and the maverick federal politician gave him the official nod yesterday.

"We look forward to working with Gordon as we head to the Queensland elections and we believe his local knowledge and business acumen will give him a great chance to claim victory,"; Mr Katter said.

"He has run a strong business in the town for a decade and he is locally born and bred.

"Now we have our Maryborough candidate locked in we hope to soon announce who will be representing us in Hervey Bay,"; he said.
