Customers cheer as Superman wins his Lois Lane

Karl proved he was no Clark Kent, and certainly more powerful than a locomotive, asking Yasmin if she would be his Lois Lane.

NOT every girl gets asked to go steady by her very own Superman.

But Hervey Bay's Yasmin Horsburgh had that very experience when she was taken for a coffee by a friend.

Little did she know, it was an elaborate set up for a Superman surprise.

Yasmin had just sat down for a coffee at Bean Beat in Scarness when Maryborough's Karl Wood, who she had been dating, arrived, dressed as the man of steel.

Karl proved he was no Clark Kent, and certainly more powerful than a locomotive, asking Yasmin if she would be his Lois Lane.

Meanwhile the customers in the cafe watched on in bemusement, waiting to see what Yasmin's answer would be.

Yasmin said yes, much to the delight of those gathered who cheered the happy couple on.

At that moment, Karl probably felt he could have leapt a tall building in a single bound.

Karl said he knew Yasmin loved Superman and he was determined to make her his girlfriend in the most imaginative way possible

The two work together at the Hervey Bay Boat Club and had been on a few dates, which obviously went well.

"She's actually quite a lovely woman, so I figured I'd ask her to be my girlfriend," Karl said.

"She said yes, she would be my Lois Lane."

Yasmin posted to her new boyfriend's Facebook page, saying that the moment had made her day.

Sadly the two don't have video of the happy occasion - Karl arranged for a mate to film it, but it failed to record.

But that matters not - in the end, Superman got the girl.
