TWO cars collided at the intersection of Boundary and Denmans Camp Rds, with fire services called to free a female driver who remained trapped in her vehicle.

Neil Probert, station officer at Torquay Fire Station said about 5.30pm a white ute and a white dual cab collided though it is not yet known what caused the crash.

He said the male driver in the dual cab was shaken and assessed by an ambulance officer while the female driver in the ute was trapped and freed by rescue equipment to allow paramedics to attend her 'significant' injuries.

It took 15 minutes to free the female driver from the vehicle.

Ambulance officers took the female driver to Hervey Bay Hospital where she was treated for her injuries.

Additional police officers were also called to control traffic on Doolong Rd with surrounding roads closed for about one hour.

Mr Probert urged drivers to take care on the roads during sunset and sunrise.

"Allow for the sun in your eyes and drive safely."
