OPRAH Winfrey, Russell Crowe, George W Bush and now Fraser Coast Councilor Darren Everard can be added to the list of notable people to take part in the worldwide phenomena of the Ice Bucket Challenge.

At the council headquarters in Torquay on Friday, a shirtless Cr Everard braved the rain to be drenched by a bucket of icy water to raise awareness for Motor Neurone Disease Queensland.

As part of the challenge, Cr Everard nominated three candidates to take on the Ice Bucket Challenge for themselves including Fraser Coast Mayor Gerard O'Connell, Bundaberg Mayor Mal Forman and Sunshine Coast Mayor Mark Jamieson.
