FCO marketing manager resigns, Torquay cafe owner attacks

AS ANOTHER manager quits Fraser Coast Opportunities, one of the region's most prominent tourism operators has slammed the body as "a waste of time".

FCO's marketing manager Danielle Andreuzzi's resignation was announced on Tuesday, making her the sixth high-profile name to quit since July.

Her departure follows the exits of tourism manager Robbie Cornelius, enterprise manager Scott Rowe and board members Glen Winney, Theresa Craig and David Hay.

The Chronicle understands Ms Andreuzzi and Mr Cornelius have both quit FCO to set up their own tourism consultancy business named DR Tourism.

Aquavue Cafe owner Larry Burch launched a scathing public attack at FCO following news of Ms Andreuzzi's departure.

He described the situation as "bullsh*t" and said the tourism body was a "waste of time".

"They are not promoting our region anywhere good enough," he said.

Mr Burch recently accepted a FCO Award for Best Marine Tourism Business.

Mr Burch didn't rule out throwing his support behind the new DR Tourism business. He said any entity that worked harder than FCO would gain his support.

But as Mr Burch's temper flared, Fraser Coast Mayor and FCO chairman Gerard O'Connell said the FCO situation was under control.

He admitted though FCO's general manager David Spear hadn't got the approval to replace the three management positions yet.

Mr Spear and Ms Andreuzzi didn't return the Chronicle's calls.
