First-built Burrum park home to go under the hammer

THE first home built in Burrum Heads more than a century ago will be one of 100 multi-million properties to be auctioned this weekend on the Gold Coast.

Built in 1887, the Burrum Coast National Park property is owned by businessman Doug Waters.

Oyster farming, dugong culling and Butchulla meetings had all happened on or in front of the property in its 100-year history.

Mr Waters is selling one of his two adjacent properties.

"It's a beautiful home - it's paradise," Mr Waters said.

He plans to retire in the second home.

The property will go to auction this Saturday at the Gold Coast.
