THE Fraser Coast and Bundaberg communities have shared tributes overnight for a 29-year-old Bundaberg woman killed in a crash on the Bruce Highway.

Midwife Melanie Robinson (nee Knott) was killed Thursday morning when her black SUV collided head-on with a B-double truck north of Howard at about 5.40am.

The highway was closed for almost eight hours as emergency services cleared the remains of both vehicles and spilled diesel fuel from the stretch of road.
