A POPULAR travel blog has ranked Fraser Island at number 11 in its bucket list of top 20 places to visit in Australia.

Caz and Craig Makepeace, authors of the Y Travel Blog, visited the island in July last year, describing Fraser Island as "spectacular".

In the bucket list blog, Craig said it had been a challenge to narrow down the list to just 20 places.

"I've had to leave out some fantastic destinations," he said.

Among those he included were the Whitsunday Islands, the Great Barrier Reef, Kakadu National Park, Sydney, Broome and Byron Bay and Uluru.

Craig advised four wheel drive enthusiasts to put Fraser Island at the top of their bucket list.

"I can't get enough of Fraser, it's an adventure with nature you'll crave more of," he wrote.

"My favourite spots are 75 Mile Beach, Eli Creek, Maheno shipwreck, Lake Mackenzie, Indian Head and Champagne Pools."
