THE truth promises to be stranger, and funnier, than fiction as comedy legend Paul Hogan comes to spin a yarn in Maryborough on Monday.

For one night only Hoges promises two hours of laughs in his regional tour, "HOGES; One Night Only - The hilarious truth and nothing but the truth".

"We did the theatres in the capital cities and it went over gangbusters and then we start getting thousands of emails from country centres," said Paul.

"So I said if we get enough calls and the town has a decent theatre we'll do a bit of a country tour.

"I think when we were talking about doing it we had about 10 different country centres and we ended up with 25.

"Now we're on the road like gypsies."

Maryborough is one of the lucky towns to host Hogan for a night of story telling.

"I think regional audiences appreciate you coming to see them," he said.
