Intersection road works completed ahead of Christmas Day

SAFETY works to build dedicated turning lanes at Pialba-Burrum Heads and Petersen Rds have been completed in time for Christmas.

Motorists from Burrum Heads, Craignish, Dundowran and surrounding areas would benefit from the safer drive home thanks to a major upgrade at theintersection.

Member for Maryborough Anne Maddern said the dedicated turning lanes would provide protection for vehicles.

"By separating through and turning traffic, motorists will now enjoy improved safety and efficiency along Pialba-Burrum Heads Road," Mrs Maddern said.

"This project was funded under the Safer Roads Sooner program, which delivers high benefit, cost effective, road engineering treatments that address known high risk crash hot spots on our network.

"The site was identified as an emerging serious crash location, and I am pleased locals have been heard and the important works are now complete."

Minor works would continue early next year on the project's second-coat seal, line marking and final landscaping works.

"I'd like to thank the community for their patience and cooperation during the works - it allowed the project team to get in and get the job done quickly," Mrs Maddern said.
