A man has drowned at Fraser Island's Eastern Beach on Saturday afternoon.

A 69-YEAR-OLD  holidaymaker drowned at Fraser Island's Eastern Beach about 4.30pm on Saturday.

The Scarborough man was pulled unconscious from the water near Dilli Village and paramedics attempted CPR at the scene.

It is believed he was taken to Nambour Hospital, but he could not be revived.

Investigations into the circumstances of the man's death are continuing, with police preparing a report for the coroner.
