Man apprehended by police near picnic grounds in Maryborough

A man has been taken away in a police wagon after an incident at George Furber Picnic Grounds in Maryborough.

UPDATE: A local man allegedly assaulted and obstructed police and caused a public nuisance in Maryborough on Friday morning.

 

A man was shouting unintelligibly from the back of a police wagon after he was apprehended.

A police spokeswoman confirmed the 27-year-old would be charged with assaulting and obstructing police, and causing a public nuisance, after he was arrested near the intersection of Russell and George Sts about 8.40am.

 

He was taken to the police station in Maryborough from the George Furber Picnic Grounds.

Three police cars were required on the scene.

The man was shouting unintelligibly from the back of the police wagon after he was apprehended.

No further details are available at this stage.
