A MAN has been arrested by police after an apparent siege in Maryborough's Sussex St.

It is believed the man locked himself inside a house after an altercation with police.

Police negotiators were called to the scene of the incident, which started about 2.50pm.

The man, whose stomach appeared to be covered in blood, was taken from the scene by ambulance.
