A 28-YEAR-old accused in the shooting death of Mt Isa man Aaron Dale MacFarlane has faced court in Hervey Bay today.

Sean Murray Hopkins will remain in custody until he faces court again on May 17.

Hopkins, a Mt Isa resident who has been in the Maryborough Correctional Centre since February, is accused of murdering 30-year-old Mr MacFarlane at Mt Isa, in the state's north west, on January 4.

Mr MacFarlane was driven to and dumped at the Mt Isa Hospital with a gunshot wound to the stomach about 9.30pm on January 3.

He died early the next day.

Hopkins was formally charged yesterday and his is the third arrest linked to the death.

In court, Magistrate Tom Killeen adjourned the case, allowing time for Hopkins' solicitor to fly to Hervey Bay to represent him.
