Man faces court on murder charge

A 28-year-old man will face Hervey Bay Magistrates Court tomorrow charged with murder over the shooting death of a man at Mt Isa on January 4.

The accused man, himself from Mount Isa, is believed to be a serving prisoner at the Maryborough Correctional Centre.

This is the second arrest in the death of 30-year-old Aaron Macfarlane and comes following an extensive investigation by police from the Northern Region and the State Crime Operations Command's Homicide Investigation Unit.

Mr Macfarlane died in the early hours of January 4 after being dropped at the Mt Isa Hospital the night before with an alleged with a gunshot wound to his stomach.
