Motor cruiser stranded off Fraser Island

A BOAT remains stranded off Fraser Island after running aground early on Wednesday morning.

A Volunteer Marine Rescue spokesman said the vessel got into trouble near Rooney Point about 3.30am.

He said two people were onboard at the time the boat ran aground but there were uninjured.

A VMR crew inspected the site on Wednesday morning but could not reach the boat due to the low tide.

Further attempts will be made later on Wednesday.

PLEASE NOTE: Early reports suggested the vessel was a 60ft motor cruiser but it was an 18ft yacht.
