RUGBY LEAGUE: Penrith skipper Matt Moylan and rising star Bryce Cartwright have both extended their contracts at the Panthers.

Fullback Moylan, who will play in the Prime Minister's XIII clash with a Papua New Guinea outfit at Port Moresby on Saturday, has signed on for another four years, while Cartwright has extended his deal by a further three years.

It means that both will stay with the Panthers until at least the end of 2021.

Moylan, 25, has had a top year, earning a State of Origin debut with the Blues to go with the captain's armband with the Panthers.

He believed more success was to come after Penrith reached the NRL semi-finals before being beaten by Canberra.

"With the squad we have and the direction that we're heading, I'm sure we're building towards something special,” he said in a statement.

"It's great to secure my future at the club and to know that I can be part of that journey.”

Cartwright, 21, whose late grandfather Merv, father David and uncles Cliff, John and Michael all played for the club, has also had a stellar season at the Panthers.

He debuted for NSW City Origin and was a Blues Origin development player before being picked in the Kangaroos' Four Nations train-on squad.

"This club has been my home for a long time now and I couldn't see myself playing anywhere else,” Cartwright said.
