Woman screamed when she saw naked man in her bedroom
A MAN who frightened his female neighbour by entering her home late at night while naked has pleaded guilty to trespassing.
Peter Jason Whitmee, 39, told Hervey Bay Magistrates Court he had no memory of the crime, after getting blind drunk on a combination of alcohol and prescribed medication on December 29.
Duty lawyer Daniel Olde said the father of three was extremely remorseful, and that his last memory of the night was falling asleep while watching a movie in his own apartment.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Kath Stagoll said Whitmee climbed from one apartment to another in a block of units in Urangan, and entered his neighbour's home through an unlocked balcony door.
He stood naked at her bedroom door, at which point the woman woke up and screamed, Sgt Stagoll said.
Whitmee then fled the scene, the court heard.
Mr Olde produced a medical certificate and said there was no sinister intent to his drunken antics.
Magistrate Graeme Tatnell did not record a conviction based on Whitmee's lack of criminal history.
However he did order Whitmee pay a fine of $350 for "frightening the living daylights out of that poor woman".
