St Stephen's announces new general manager

FOLLOWING the surprise and sudden departure of St Stephen's Hospital general manager Leanne Tones, a new leader has been appointed.

Deb Boyd, who lives in New Zealand and currently works at a surgical hospital about the same size as the new St Stephen's, will take up the role from July 2.

St Stephen's acting executive director Terence Seymour said he was pleased to be making the announcement.

"Deb is joining St Stephen's with significant senior management experience in managing private hospitals in New Zealand," he said.

Mr Seymour said Ms Boyd had a strong clinical management background and high-level stakeholder and business development skills.

"Deb will be a huge asset to St Stephen's, Uniting Care Health, and the local community as we transition services to Hervey Bay and build our strong Maryborough Foundations of quality and services."

The 96-bed, $87.5 million new hospital being built in Hervey Bay is set to be Australia's first fully integrated digital hospital and due to open in September.
