No action on dingoes involved in beach attack

NO ACTION has been taken against two dingoes that attacked two women jogging on a beach on Fraser Island.

A spokesman from the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service confirmed the dingoes were still alive and said no further action had been taken against the dingoes involved "at this time".

The incident happened on October 26 when the women were jogging on the beach about 6.50am.

Emergency services were called to the Yidney Rocks Beachfront Units and one of the women was taken to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition for treatment of wounds to her legs.

Doreen Cash, from Yidney Rocks Beachfront Apartments, was reported as saying it was concerning the dingoes responsible for the attack had not been caught and that it may deter tourists from booking trips to the island.

But the Save the Fraser Island Dingo organisation released a statement saying the community does not want the dingoes to "pay the ultimate price".
