New adventure park initiative
A $5 MILLION African-themed adventure park on Burrum Heads Road is the latest initiative to bring more tourists to the Fraser Coast.
Work is already under way on Jimmy and Cathy Swan's Flame Lily Adventures which is based around a massive ornamental lake and three land-linked islands.
To be built in stages, the tourism venture will offer military-style corporate team-building courses, family getaways in 22 waterfront cabins and five caravan sites and facilities for day trippers.
Mr Swan plans to use his combat experience and training, from the days when he served in the special forces in Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, and involvement in corporate security, to run the seven-day courses.
He said participants would stay in tents, wear military uniforms and learn marching, tracking, map reading, unarmed combat, canoeing and other skills.
He said teams would be formed and they would be encouraged to leave no one behind.
