KINGAROY Police need help from members of the public to find a motorcyclist they recorded going 223km/h in a 100km/h zone yesterday afternoon.

The male motorcyclist was travelling towards Kingaroy on the Kingaroy-Cooyar Rd at 2.15pm on Tuesday.

The rider passed the police car as they were conducting highway patrol as the rider was approaching Kingaroy Airport.

Kingaroy Police officer in Charge Senior Sergeant Duane Frank said police did not pursue the motorcyclists as to not escalate the situation.

"That speed is just simply dangerous approaching an area where there was a lot of other roads connecting with the highway residential area at Taabinga," he said.

"Anything could have happened, he could of lost control, hit a rock at that speed.

"The chance of a crash is extremely high, losing control of the motorcycle is extremely high, had he'd come off that only outcome would have been death.

"He is clearly disregarding own safety as well that of other people.

"Anyone who things they can ride a motorcycle at that speed is an idiot."

The rider was on a large black road bike with a full black helmet and was wearing black leathers.

If anyone saw the motorcyclist or was over taken by him yesterday afternoon phone Kingaroy Police station on 41604900.
