Sandy Strait fisheries review meeting to be held tonight

A MEETING will be held in Hervey Bay on Friday night as part of a fishing review of the Great Sandy Strait Marine Park.

The Fisheries Review Meeting will be held from 5pm to 7pm at the Hervey Bay High School's Great Hall.

The meeting is part of a State Government review into how the State's marine parks and fisheries are managed.

Fraser Coast Fishing Alliance president Scott Mitchell encouraged all members of the region's fishing community to attend and have their say.

"We need every local recreational angler to attend and let the review members know our main concerns in relation to local fisheries management issues," he said.

Mr Mitchell said unrestricted netting in the park's yellow conservation zone was the main concern.

Topics:  fisheries, great sandy strait, legislation, marine park, review
