UPDATE, 1.10PM: Roads in Maryborough will reopen shortly after a gas leak caused major delays in the city centre.
Part of Ferry St and parts of Albert St near Aldi supermarket were closed after an excavator ruptured a gas pipe, causing a leak, a police spokeswoman said.
She said the gas leak had now been contained.
Emergency service crews were at the scene redirecting traffic, while motorists were urged to take the Walker St exit when entering or leaving Maryborough to avoid the scene.
EARLIER: A suspected gas leak has partially closed a street in Maryborough.
Police and other emergency crews have closed part of Ferry Street near where it intersects with Alice St as they investigate the suspected leak.
Traffic is flowing normally along Alice St, but Ferry St is partially closed near Aldi.
