Teen dives in to save drowning three-year-old boy
SAVING a small child from drowning has made Trae Spasojevic a hero in the eyes of his family and friends.
The 14-year-old Point Vernon boy was holidaying at Forbes in New South Wales with his family and some mates when the incident happened.
He was relaxing by the side of a pool at a caravan park with his friends, when he noticed a boy, aged about 3, jump in.
The child's floaties had come undone and the child was quickly sinking to the bottom of the pool.
No one else had noticed the child and Trae quickly jumped into the water and brought the child back to the surface.
The adults heard the huge splash as Trae jumped into the water and that was the first they knew of the small boy's predicament.
Trae said because no one else had noticed the child go under, he would have drowned if he hadn't dived in and pulled him out.
The child's parents thanked him for what he did, Trae said.
Trae's grandmother Patricia Peters, who was on the scene at the time, said she couldn't be prouder of her grandson and his quick thinking actions.
"He saved that little boy's life, for sure," she said.
