THE Maryborough Eisteddfod was filled with dramatic delights, sweet sounds and poetic prose during day two of the competition.

"Today the standard was very high in both vocal and speech and drama," eisteddfod president Irene Smith said.

A bevy of brilliant performers took to the Brolga Theatre stage, delivering a variety of high-quality acts.

"The performers have been very happy and very professional for their age," Ms Smith said.

On Tuesday the region's vocal and choral talents will be tested, as well as speech and drama solos and musical theatre.

From Wednesday, the spotlight will shift to instrumental, when Maryborough plays host to a variety of school bands, soloists and amazing amateurs.
