KATH Slack, 85, was struggling with respiratory problems when she decided to try yoga.
She is now among an increasing number of older people taking on each week through a senior yoga class with friends Barbara Conway, 70 and Shirley Finlayson, 73.
"I'm sure it helps me breathe more easily, I'm quite enjoying it and it's very social," Kath said.
For Shirley, the ancient practice was a great way to remain agile and keep the aging process at bay.
"If you're a fit senior, it's really good for you," she said.
Barbara has also taken to the craft.
"I think it's just (about) good posture and flexibility," she said
Hervey Bay School of Yoga teacher Polly Realf had nothing but praise for her older students.
"They are amazing with their courage," she said.
"They keep taking on the challenges in a way that is so dignified."
Polly said she began practicing yoga as a teenager.
"I really believe it improves the value of everyone's life," she said.
