"THE ultimate mates' trip away", worth a cool $10,000, will be up for grabs at the World's Greatest Pub Fest on Sunday.

XXXX Gold is bringing its container bar back this year and has announced it will be giving one lucky Pub Fest participant - and three mates of their choice - a trip to XXXX Island.

The island, off the Capricorn Coast, is described as the ultimate destination for mates' trips away where you can do as little or as much as you like, from fishing to beach cricket, swimming in the ocean, to barbecuing the catch of the day with a beer in hand.

For a chance to win, pub fest-goers should drop by the container bar and have a go at a series of skill-based challenges.

Meanwhile, pub fest participants are being encouraged to put their hand up to be a 'skipper' or designated driver for their friends for the day.

This year skippers will be rewarded with a free soft drink at all the pub fest venues and still be eligible for the major prize draw at the end of the day.

If you're not able to find a skipper, jump aboard one of the shuttle buses which travel to each of the pubs.

They will depart every 10 minutes from designated stops outside each pub.

Costume competition

  • People's Choice Award = $1000
  • Best team with more than five members = $1000
  • Best team with less than five members = $700
  • Best Individual = $300
  • Register outside the Maryborough Courthouse between 10am and 2pm
  • Winners will be announced at 3pm
