Teens charged over tattooing of minors

An 18-year-old man suspected of being involved in the illegal tattooing of minors in Mundubbera was yesterday charged by police.

A 16-year-old Mundubbera boy is already facing a $3000 fine or period of imprisonment for allegedly tattooing his peers with a tattoo gun bought off the internet.

Mundubbera police charged the teenager and seized the gun off him early last week after receiving information from a concerned parent.

They were told the boy was tattooing other teenagers' backs, wrists, chests and breasts with stars, hearts and words.

Police said the boy bought the gun over the internet for $212.

Up to six minors are believed to have been tattooed.
