A sure sign dam's not wanted here

Stephen O'Grady

Right now, it's a three-word message.

But depending on how many people, donned in bright yellow, find their way to Dayman Park beach on Sunday week, it could pack even more punch.

Campaigners against the proposed Traveston dam are urging residents of the Fraser Coast to help form a human sign which is likely to be a last chance to let Federal Environment Minister Peter Garrett know how they feel about the controversial $1.8 billion state government dam plan.

The human sign is a part of a major lobby against the dam, from September 6-7, which will also include the arrival of Get Up's climate torch in Hervey Bay.
