Mr Mclean is the national grassroots co-ordinator of Get Up, the independent community group that holds Australia's politicians to account.
He will help relay Get Up's climate torch along the banks of the Mary River in a move to highlight the 400,000-tonne greenhouse gas impact the proposed $1.8 billion dam could have.

"The communities along the Mary River have really mobilised and we have been inspired by their actions," he said.
