Vigil of anguish: Tragic end to search for missing 8-year-old

Jocelyn Watts

Distraught family and friends packed up their campsite beside the idyllic Tinana Creek about noon yesterday, just hours after police divers found the body of a missing 8-year-old boy.

The Noosaville boy was struck by a speedboat on Sunday during a camping and water-skiing weekend.

Police Sergeant Tony McCarthy said divers found the boy's body at 9am yesterday close to where the tragedy happened, ending an anguished riverside vigil through the night.
