Two tourists die in Fraser crash

TWO tourists have been killed on Queensland's Fraser Island and two others critically injured when a troop carrier rolled over.

Authorities say the special four-wheel-drive vehicle was carrying 11 passengers when the accident occurred at Dundaburra about 8am (AEST) on Saturday.

A man and woman died at the scene while two other badly injured people were flown from the island.

An ambulance spokeswoman said one had been taken to nearby Hervey Bay Hospital while the other would be treated at the Royal Brisbane Hospital.

Six patients - four with neck and back injuries and two with minor injuries - have also been taken to Hervey Bay Hospital.
