Pub Crawl judging to be examined

CHAIR of the World's Greatest Pub Crawl judging panel Ann Morris said the committee was looking at how to do the judging next year so it was as fair as possible but the sheer mass of numbers presented a challenge.

This year all judging was done at the outside pubs before 2pm but because of the traditional early congestion in those hotels not all of the top costumes made it to the five judges.

However, Ms Morris said they would have been in the running if they made it to only one judge.

“I am confident all the best outfits were in the final 10 after we considered all the scorecards. Some of us took photos too so we were able to compare what we had seen.”

Ms Morris said some were unaware of the judging criteria, which awarded marks for performance, craft and creativity.

“We will be looking at how we award points for next year and publishing them well ahead so people know what the criteria is.”

She felt, however, that if a colour theme was used it should not be too restrictive because people's imaginations had to be given full rein.
