THE writer of the Ashes jingle in England, head of the best big band in the world and a judge from Battle of the Choirs are some of the talent that has rocked into town for the Maryborough Music Conference.
The conference, held every two years, invited music educators from around Australia, Papua New Guinea, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Education Queensland regional music coordinator Ken Hodgkinson said it was a record year, with 620 attendees.
“It's going great. We've had standing ovations for our presenters.
“All the sessions have been well attended.”
Yesterday people taking part were rehearsing for tomorrow night's two-and-a-half-hour performance at the Brolga.
“There will be an orchestra, symphonic wind band, two choirs and a stage band.”
International conductors include Peter Barenbregge who headed the big band USA Air Force Airman of Note, television judge George Torbay, who also conducted the opening ceremony of the Sydney Olympics, and well-known jingle writer Sean O'Boyle.
Tickets are available at the Brolga box office; phone 4122 6060.
