DIRECT from the North Pole armed with presents and plenty of festive spirit, Santa Claus made a pre-Christmas appearance in Maryborough yesterday.

The jolly man in red was the guest of honour at the Apex Club of Maryborough’s annual Apex Santa Fair.

Fraser Coast residents flocked to the event at the Maryborough Toy Library and enjoyed toy and ham spins, children’s rides and entertainment.

There was plenty of hot food, ice cream and sweets to go around and, as always, plenty of room for everybody on the famous Apex train.

The Apex Santa Fair was one of the first Christmas events to be held on the Fraser Coast for the 2009 festive season.

Some of the coming events include the Maryborough and Hervey Bay carols by candlelight.

Maryborough’s will be held at Queens Park on December 20; Hervey Bay’s at Seafront Oval on December 19.
