CAMEL man Steve Madden has just flown back in to Hervey Bay from Broome after testifying in court as to the part he played in the ‘camel wars’ that rocked the West Australian trekking industry.
Mr Madden, the operator of Fraser Coast Camel Safaris, faced down counsel for the defence from the witness box to give evidence about the dispute between rival camel operators, despite being weakened by bouts of whooping cough and pnuemonia.
Mayhem has reigned among camel tour operators based around Cable Beach in pearl capital Broome, as hard-headed tactics sparked violence among competitors.
