Michael Nyenhuis kicked off his shoes and gave lawn bowls a go for the first time yesterday.
RAISING funds for Queensland's flood victims was a whole lot of fun for those who took part in Urangan Bowls Club's flood appeal event yesterday – especially for Michael Nyenhuis.
Michael had never bowled before, but came along determined to give it a go.
No one was taking it too seriously, with some light-hearted sledging and a little bit of cheating going on.
However, no one seemed to mind as 138 bowlers put their best foot forward to raise funds for bowls clubs around Queensland that have been affected by the recent floods.
“It's my first time ever,” Mr Nyenhuis said as he indulged in a bit of barefoot bowling.
“It's scary. I haven't worked out how to cheat yet.”
The organisers were thrilled with the turnout and said everyone was having a lot of fun.
Raffles and an auction were also held to benefit the flood appeal at the bowls club last night.
