HEAVY rain was predicted for the Fraser Coast overnight after a day of wet weather yesterday.

But forecasters also had good news, with the weather expected to look brighter later in the week and temperatures to get higher.

Yesterday saw temperatures in Hervey Bay fall to a minimum of 19 and maximum of 25 while in Maryborough the minimum was 18 and the maximum was 25, which is below the average temperatures for April.

Later in the week, temperatures are expected to increase, reading up to 28 or 29 degrees.

However moderate to heavy rain was expected to continue today.

About 10mm of rain fell in Hervey Bay from 9am to 3pm yesterday while 14mm of rain fell in Maryborough.

A surface trough off the Central and Capricornia Coast is expected to deepen overnight, with a low developing offshore, before moving away from the coast.

Moderate to heavy showers are expected today while isolated showers are expected for the rest of the week.
