Pour a cuppa and help

JUST by enjoying one of life's simple pleasures, a cup of tea, Fraser Coast residents can help revolutionise the way Australia's 1.4 million people with a disability are supported by the Federal Government.

Today an “unprecedented” 500 DisabiliTEAs will be held across the country in support of introducing a National Disability Insurance Scheme.

Four will open to the public on the Fraser Coast and residents are encouraged to get along and enjoy a cuppa, learn about the NDIS and sign a form of support.

“This is a once in a generation opportunity to see real change in the sector,” Endeavour Foundation CEO and NDIS campaign committee chairman David Barbagallo said.

“People with a disability are denied the most basic human rights and live out their days with little prospect of relief from the indignity, inconvenience and poverty imposed upon them.

“It's time for all Australians to speak up and show we will not stand for this injustice.”

DisabiliTEAs will be held at the Endeavour Recycled Clothing stores in Maryborough or Hervey Bay, Learning and Lifestyle in Maryborough or the Cerebral Palsy League Day Service at 116 Richmond St, Maryborough. For more information visit www.everyaustraliancounts.com.au.
