Ross is a wood artist, and studio furniture maker.

Ross is a designer and maker of contemporary fine furniture specialising in chairs. Ross makes work for Australian and international clients, combining traditional making techniques with innovative contemporary designs. 

In his studio at the Cooroora Institute in the Noosa Hinterland, Sunshine Coast, Queensland Australia, Ross offers:

• one-on-one training,
• regular weekly woodworking and furniture making classes, and
• masterclasses in steam bending and chair design  

Ross also hosts:

• internships,
• artist residencies and
• Masterclasses with other leading artists, designers and makers. 

Ross works with timbers sourced from sustainably managed resources, with small sections of timber using minimal forms, and with experimental techniques using plantation timbers. 

Ross has exhibited in Australia, New Zealand, Germany and Canada, and his work is in homes and private collections around the world.Ross’ work explores themes of ecoregionalism and landscape memoir. 

Ross has established the Cooroora Institute with Dr Tamsin Kerr, which brings together artists and artisans with public intellectuals to celebrate, promote and discuss community connectedness to place and environment.
