About Us

Hailing from Huntley, New Zealand my Marae is Te Kauri and my Hapu is Ngati Whawhakia of Tainui decent.

My Maori artwork is attrabuted to my grandmother who helped encouraged and developed my knowledge and creativity at a tender age. Other influences that have helped murture my skills like Buck Nin, Cliff Whitting, Kereti Kautangata and many others that have inspired me to pursue Maori art & design, whakairo (wood carving) and bonework.

My tattooing experience started at the age of 14 as soon as I could make the famous boob style gun, the cuzzies and local hoods were lining up.

From the pioneers of Ta Moko renaissance the likes of Derek Ladalleli, Lourie Nicholous and Gordon Hatfield I too turned my sight into the study and pursuits of Ta Moko art and design through their inspiration and influences.

My whakairo background over the years is the cornerstone in my design work in Moko. I'm in a continual state of development to be creative in exploring the Moko artform in a traditional, contempory and modern expression and design foundation. I love seeing the many styles that have flourished over the last 5 - 10 years. I too desire to maintain this "on edge design work" always pushing the envolope in creativity and mastery in needle work.
