11 rescued from upturned houseboat

EMERGENCY crews are currently at the scene of a houseboat rescue off Hervey Bay.

It is understood the 7-metre vessel overturned with 11 passengers onboard off Torquay beach early on Sunday afternoon.

The passengers have been taken onto rescue vessels provided by the Volunteer Marine Rescue and Hervey Bay Water Police.

At this stage it is believed no one requires treatment by Queensland Ambulance Service.

A second VMR vessel is being deployed in an attempt to salvage the upturned vessel.
