$2 million for redevelopment of River Heads boat area

PAULINE Hanson's One Nation candidate for Hervey Bay will commit $2 million to the council for the redevelopment of the River Heads boat ramp area.

Damian Huxham said he would match the Fraser Coast Regional Council dollar for dollar for the redevelopment if elected and One Nation either held the balance of power or formed government.

As part of the project, about 30 more parking spaces will be developed.

Mr Huxham said the area needed to be made more accessible for people.

"The whole region throughout here is a tourism mecca," he said.

A feasibility study on the proposal is due to be completed in the next few weeks.

"There will also be more safety upgrades, and that will all come out in the findings of the study coming back shortly," Mr Huxham said.

Infrastructure councillor Denis Chapman said there were not enough car parks to sustain visitors.

"This is about building a better carpark area to utilise what we've got down here at River Heads," Cr Chapman said.
