2016 Emmy Awards red carpet fashions
THE stars of the small screen are putting their best fashion foot forward on the Emmys red carpet.
Nominees and celebrities are currently arriving at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles for the 68th annual awards, which honour the best in US television production.
Modern Family's Sarah Hyland was one of the earlier red carpet arrivals, standing out from the sea of figure-hugging gowns in a structured corset with a split train and black pants.
So far the actress is being praised on Twitter for the chic and creative outfit.
Jimmy Kimmel will host the awards, which are dominated by HBO's popular fantasy series Game of Thrones and the crime drama mini-series American Crime Story: The People v OJ Simpson.
The Game of Thrones cast was out in force on the carpet. Stars Sophie Turner and Gwendoline Christie both arrived in black gowns while Emilia Clarke embodied simple elegance in a sleek strapless gown covered in pale pink sequins.
Solid blocks of colour, all-over sequins and figure-hugging silhouettes were early trends on the carpet, but those who bucked that trend like Hyland and Kristen Bell really stood out amongst the well-heeled crowd.
