$4m project to upgrade part of Maryborough-Hervey Bay Rd

A $4 MILLION project to repair pavement on Maryborough-Hervey Bay Rd will cause lane closures and reduced speed limits later this month.

A Transport and Main Roads spokesperson said the project would include shoulder-widening and drainage works from Fazio Rd to Hibiscus Rd near Saltwater Creek.

"Preliminary works will be undertaken outside peak hours for about one week, with minor impacts expected," the spokesperson said.

"The majority of work will then be done from 6pm to 6am, to minimise disruptions during peak travel times, with traffic restricted to one lane under contra-flow traffic control."

A reduced speed limit will be in place during the day, while motorists should expect delays from 6pm-6am.

The TMR spokesperson said the roadworks were expected to be complete in October, weather permitting.

The spokesperson said the department would meet with homeowners and businesses affected by the roadworks before any work was started.
