74-year-old alleged weed grower appears in court

A 74-YEAR-OLD Urangan man charged with producing more than 370 cannabis plants at Lowmead made a brief appearance in Hervey Bay District Court on Thursday.

Kelvin Lyndon Currie faces one charge of producing dangerous drugs after the massive haul was found near Lowmead, north of Bundaberg on October 12.

Currie spent the brief mention clutching a green canvas messenger bag and wore a white button down shirt and dark dress pants.

Defence lawyer Allan Mallard requested a short adjournment in order for case conferencing with the police prosecutor to occur.

Magistrate Graeme Tatnell ordered the case be return to court on November 12.

A Wurtulla man, 48, and a Perrearra man, 51, are expected to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court regarding the same matter in November.
